The new frame processing approach will force you to update your code, because `Frame.getData()` is
not a a byte[] anymore. The class of this object now depends on the engine being used. You can use
`frame.getDataClass()` (or instanceof) to check.
If you are using the Camera1 engine, you will still receive byte arrays, so you can just cast `frame.getData()` to
`byte[]`, assuming it's not done already by the compiler.
If you are using the experimental Camera2 engine, you will receive `android.media.Image`s instead.
This object will likely be accepted by frame processing libraries, and also offers access to raw byte data.

This has some breaking drawbacks. Specifically, the `get` methods (e.g., `getWhiteBalance`) might
not return the correct value while it is being changed. So don't trust them right after you have changed the value.
Instead, always check the `CameraOptions` to see if the value you want is supported.
- Added error handling ([#97][97]) in `CameraListener.onCameraError(CameraException)`.
At the moment, all exceptions there are unrecoverable. When the method is called, the camera is showing
a black preview. This is a good moment to show an error dialog to the user.
You can also try to `start()` again but that is not guaranteed to work.
- Long requested ability to set the picture output size ([#99][99]). Can be done through
`CameraView.setPictureSize()` or through new XML attributes starting with `cameraPictureSize`.

- Deprecated `toggleFacing`. It was unreliable and will be removed.

A: It's actually not flipped - if you show your left hand, the person in the picture will show its left hand as well,
so this is the accurate representation of reality.
However, if you want to flip the result horizontally to match the preview,

To use the CameraView engine, simply add a `CameraView` to your layout:

This is the one and only interface to the engine, and is meant to be hosted inside a UI component

### Set up a CameraListener
The next thing to do is to add a new `CameraListener` to be notified about camera events.
You can do this on a per-action basis, but it's easier to just add one when the UI is created:

Taking a video is just the same thing, except that you must make sure that camera is in `Mode.VIDEO` mode,
and that you have write permissions to write the file:

### Without support libraries
If you are not using support libraries and you can't resolve the LifecycleOwner interface,
make sure you override `onResume`, `onPause` and `onDestroy` in your activity (`onDestroyView`
in your fragment), and call `open()`, `close()` and `destroy()`.

The camera engine will notify anyone about camera events that took place, either on their own or

### Lifecycle
CameraView has its own lifecycle, which is basically made of an open and a closed state.
You will listen to these events using `onCameraOpened` and `onCameraClosed` callbacks:

The open callback is especially important because the `CameraOptions` includes all the available
options of the current sensor. This can be used to adjust the UI, for example, show a flash icon
if flash is supported.

If you are planning to use the snapshot APIs, the size of the media output is that of the preview stream,
accounting for any cropping made when [measuring the view](preview-size) and other constraints.

If you are planning to use the standard APIs, then what follows applies.
### Controlling Size
Size is controlled using `setPictureSize` and `setVideoSize` for, respectively, picture and video
output. These method will accept a `SizeSelector`. The point of a `SizeSelector` is to analyze the
available sizes that the sensor offers, and choose the ones it prefers.

The `cameraPicture*` attributes are used in picture mode, while the `cameraVideo*` attributes are used in video mode.
Note that, for each mode, if you declare more than one XML constraint, the resulting selector will try
to match **all** the constraints. Be careful - it is very likely that applying lots of constraints will give empty results.
### SizeSelectors utilities
All these XML attrs are actually shorthands to some `SizeSelectors` utility method.
For more versatility, or to address selection issues with multiple constraints,
we encourage you to use `SizeSelectors` to get a selector, and then apply it to the `CameraView` as seen.
The utilities will even let you merge different selectors with `or` or `and` logic, in a very
intuitive way. For example:

This selector will try to find square sizes bigger than 1000x2000. If none is found, it falls back
to just square sizes.

This section introduces some key concepts about media capturing, and about the `Mode` control.
### Mode control
The mode control determines what can be captured with the standard APIs (read below). It can be set through XML
or dynamically changed using `cameraView.setMode()`. The current mode value has a few consequences:
- Sizing: the capture size is chosen among the available picture or video sizes,
depending on the flag, according to the given size selector.
- Capturing: while in picture mode, `takeVideo` will throw an exception.
- Capturing: while in video mode, `takePicture` will throw an exception.
- Permission behavior: when requesting a `video` session, the record audio permission will be requested.
If this is needed, the audio permission should be added to your manifest or the app will crash.

### Capturing media
The library supports 4 capture APIs, two for pictures and two for videos.
- Standard APIs: `takePicture()` and `takeVideo()`. These take a high quality picture or video, depending
on the configuration values that were used. The standard APIs **must** be called in the appropriate `Mode`.
- Snapshot APIs: `takePictureSnapshot()` and `takeVideoSnapshot()`. These take a super fast, reliable
snapshot of the camera preview. The snapshot APIs can be called in any `Mode` (you can snap videos in picture mode).
Beyond being extremely fast, and small in size (though low quality), snapshot APIs have the benefit
that the result is automatically cropped to match the view bounds. This means that, if `CameraView` is square,
resulting snapshots are square as well, no matter what the sensor available sizes are.

CameraView supports a wide range of controls that will control the behavior of the sensor or the
quality of the output.
Everything can be controlled through XML parameters or programmatically. For convenience, most options
are represented by `enum` classes extending the `Control` class. This makes it possible to use

The format for pictures taken with `takePicture()`. Does not apply to picture snapshots taken

support might change depending on the engine and the device sensor.

Turns on or off audio stream while recording videos.
Defaults to `ON`.

Use 0 or a negative value to fallback to the encoder default. Defaults to 0.

Defines the maximum duration in milliseconds for video recordings.

Controls the preview frame rate, in frames per second.

The preview frame rate is an important parameter because it will also
control (broadly) the rate at which frame processor frames are dispatched,
the video snapshots frame rate, and the rate at which real-time filters are invoked.
The available values are exposed through the `CameraOptions` object:

##### cameraPreviewFrameRateExact
Controls the behavior of `cameraPreviewFrameRate`. If this option is set to `true`, the narrowest
range containing the new preview fps will be used. If this option is set to `false` the broadest
range containing the new preview fps will be used. Note: If set this option to true, it will give as
exact preview fps as you want, but the sensor will have less freedom when adapting the exposure to
the environment, which may lead to dark preview.

### Zoom
There are two ways to control the zoom value:
- User can zoom in or out with a [Gesture](gestures)
- The developer can start manual zoom with the `setZoom(float)` API, passing in a value between 0 and 1.
Both actions will trigger the zoom callback, which can be used, for example, to draw a seek bar:

`CameraView` will log a lot of interesting events related to the camera lifecycle. These are important
to identify bugs. The default logger will simply use Android `Log` methods posting to logcat.
You can attach and detach external loggers using `CameraLogger.registerLogger()`:

Errors are posted to the registered `CameraListener`s callback:

You are supposed to inspect the `CameraException` object as it contains useful information about
what happened and what should be done, if anything. All things that fail can end up throwing this
exception, which includes temporary actions like taking a picture, or functional actions like
starting the camera preview.
### Unrecoverable errors
You can exclude unrecoverable errors using `CameraException.isUnrecoverable()`.
If this function returns true, at this point the camera has been released and it is likely showing
a black preview. The operation can't go on.
You can try to call `camera.start()` again, but that's not guaranteed to work. For example, the
camera sensor might be in use by another application, so there's nothing we could do.
### Other errors
For more fine grained control over what happened, inspect the reason using `CameraException.getReason()`.
This will return one of the `CameraException.REASON_` constants:

Starting from version `2.1.0`, CameraView experimentally supports real-time filters that can modify
the camera frames before they are shown and recorded. Just like [overlays](watermarks-and-overlays),
these filters are applied to the preview and to any [picture or video snapshots](capturing-media).
Starting from `2.5.0`, this feature is considered to be stable and you do not need the experimental
flag to use it. The only condition is to use the `Preview.GL_SURFACE` preview.

or anytime during the camera lifecycle using `cameraView.setFilter()`.
We offers a reasonable amount of filters through the `Filters` class, for example:

All of the filters stored in the `Filters` class have an XML string resource that you can use
to quickly setup the camera view. For example, `Filters.BLACK_AND_WHITE` can be used by setting
`app:cameraFilter` to `"@string/cameraview_filter_black_and_white"`.
The default filter is called `NoFilter` (`Filters.NONE`) and can be used to clear up any other
filter that was previously set and return back to normal.

### Filters controls
Most of the provided filters accept input parameters to tune them. For example, `DuotoneFilter` will
accept two colors to apply the duotone effect.

You can change these values by acting on the filter object, before or after passing it to `CameraView`.
Whenever something is changed, the updated values will be visible immediately in the next frame.
You can also map the first or second filter control to a gesture (like horizontal or vertical scrolling),
as explained in [the gesture documentation](gestures):

### MultiFilter
CameraView provides a special filter called `MultiFilter` which can be used to group different filters
together, and apply them in sequence to the input frame, in order to process it more than once.

camera.setFilter(new MultiFilter(firstFilter, secondFilter, thirdFilter));
```
You can even add new filters to the group at any time, using `MultiFilter.addFilter()`.
The `MultiFilter` will also try to dispatch [filter controls](#filters-controls) (e.g. from gestures)
to its children.
There are some technical caveats when using a `MultiFilter`:
- Using a large number of child filters can consume the available graphic memory
- For [advanced users](#advanced-usage), child filters need to read from `GLES20.GL_TEXTURE_2D`
instead of the typical `GLES11Ext.GL_TEXTURE_EXTERNAL_OES`. To achieve this, we get your fragment
shader String and replace any `"samplerExternalOES"` with `"sampler2D"`. This is a hack
that might cause issues with specific shader implementations.
### Advanced usage
Advanced users with OpenGL experience can create their own filters by implementing the `Filter` interface
and passing in a fragment shader and a vertex shader that will be used for drawing.
##### Simple filters
For very simple filters that have a static fragment shader, you can create a working filter
implementation by simply creating an instance of `SimpleFilter`:

##### More complex filters
We recommend:
- Subclassing `BaseFilter` instead of implementing `Filter`, since that takes care of most of the work
- If accepting parameters, implementing `OneParameterFilter` or `TwoParameterFilter` as well

`com.otaliastudios.cameraview.filters` package.

feature with a wide range of applications. For example, the frames can be sent to a face detector,

For your convenience, the `FrameProcessor` method is run in a background thread so you can do your job
in a synchronous fashion. Once the process method returns, internally we will re-use the `Frame` instance and
apply new data to it. So:
- you can do your job synchronously in the `process()` method. This is **recommended**.
- if you must hold the `Frame` instance longer, use `frame = frame.freeze()` to get a frozen instance
that will not be affected. This is **discouraged** because it requires copying the whole array.
Also, starting from `v2.5.0`, this is not allowed when Camera2 is used.
### Process synchronously
Processing synchronously, for the duration of the `process()` method, is the recommended way of using
processors, because it solves different issues:
- avoids the need of calling `frame = frame.freeze()` which is a very expensive operation
- the engine will **automatically drop frames** if the `process()` method is busy, so you'll only
receive frames that you can handle
- we have already allocated background threads for you, so there's no need to create another
Some frame consumers might have a built-in asynchronous behavior.
But you can still block the `process()` thread until the consumer has returned.

### Frame Data
Starting from `v2.5.0`, the type of data offered by `frame.getData()` depends on the camera engine
that created this frame:
- The Camera1 engine will offer `byte[]` arrays
- The Camera2 engine will offer `android.media.Image` objects
You can check this at runtime by inspecting the data class using `frame.getDataClass()`.
### Frame Size
The Camera2 engine offers the option to set size constraints for the incoming frames.

With other engines, these API have no effect.
### Frame Format
The Camera2 engine offers the option to set the frame format as one of the ImageFormat
constants. The default is `ImageFormat.YUV_420_888`.

With the Camera1 engine, the incoming format will always be `ImageFormat.NV21`.

### Advanced: Thread Control
Starting from `v2.5.1`, you can control the number of background threads that are allocated
for frame processing work. This should further push you into perform processing actions synchronously
and can be useful if processing is very slow with respect to the preview frame rate, in order to
avoid dropping too many frames.
You can change the number of threads by calling `setFrameProcessingExecutors()`. Whenever you do,
we recommend that you also change the frame processing pool size to a compatible value.
The frame processing pool size is roughly the number of `Frame` instances that can exist at any given
moment. We recommend that this value is set to the number of executors plus 1. For example:
- Single threaded (default):

- Two threads:

`CameraView` listen to lots of different gestures inside its bounds. You have the chance to map
these gestures to particular actions or camera controls, using the `mapGesture()` method.
This lets you emulate typical behaviors in a single line:

In CameraView grammar, metering is the act of measuring the scene brightness, colors and focus
distance in order to automatically adapt the camera exposure, focus and white balance (AE, AF and AWB,
often referred as 3A).
We treat three different types on metering: [continuous metering](#continuous-metering),
[picture metering](#picture-metering) and [touch metering](#touch-metering). You can also apply
adjustment to the metered exposure through the [exposure correction](#exposure-correction) control.
### Continuous Metering
By default, and if the device supports it, all three routines (AE, AF, AWB) are continuously metered
as the device moves or the scene changes.
- For AE, this is always enabled if supported
- For AF, this is always enabled if supported
- For AWB, this is enabled if the `WhiteBalance` parameter is set to `AUTO` [[docs]](controls#camerawhitebalance)
### Picture Metering
> In Camera1, picture metering is always enabled for pictures, and always disabled for picture snapshots.
The following applies to Camera2 only.
The camera engine will try to trigger metering when a picture is requested, either with `takePicture()`
or `takePictureSnapshot()`. This has two obvious consequences:
- improves the picture quality
- increases the latency, because metering takes time
For these reasons, picture metering is **enabled** by default for HQ pictures and **disabled** by
default for picture snapshots. However, the behavior can be changed with two flags and their
respective XML attributes:

### Touch Metering
Touch metering is triggered by either a [Gesture](gestures) or by the developer itself, which
can start touch metering on a specific point with the `startAutoFocus()` API.
This action needs the coordinates of a point or region computed with respect to the view width and height.

cameraView.startAutoFocus(cameraView.getWidth() / 2F, cameraView.getHeight/() / 2F);
// Start touch metering within a given area,
// like the bounding box of a face.

##### Touch Metering Markers
You can set a marker for drawing on screen in response to touch metering events.
In XML, you should pass the qualified class name of your marker.

cameraView.setAutoFocusMarker(marker);
```
We offer a default marker (similar to the old `focusWithMarker` attribute in v1),
which you can set in XML using the `@string/cameraview_default_autofocus_marker` resource,
or programmatically:

cameraView.setAutoFocusMarker(new DefaultAutoFocusMarker());
```
##### Touch Metering Reset Delay
You control control how a touch metering operation is reset after completed.
Setting a negative value (or 0, or `Long.MAX_VALUE`) will not reset the metering values.
This is useful for low end devices that have slow auto-focus capabilities.
Defaults to 3 seconds.

cameraView.setCameraAutoFocusResetDelay(1000); // 1 second
cameraView.setCameraAutoFocusResetDelay(0); // NO reset
cameraView.setCameraAutoFocusResetDelay(-1); // NO reset

### Exposure correction
There are two ways to control the exposure correction value:
- User can change the exposure correction with a [Gesture](gestures)
- The developer can change this value with the `setExposureCorrection(float)` API, passing in the EV
value, in camera stops. This value should be contained in the minimum and maximum supported values,
as returned by `CameraOptions`.
Both actions will trigger the exposure correction callback, which can be used, for example, to draw a seek bar:

### UI Orientation
Within a Camera app, it's common to rotate buttons and other UI elements as the device is tilted around.
We offer a handy callback giving you the right rotation that should be applied to UI elements for them
to be consistent with what the user is seeing:

### Location APIs

`CameraView` has a smart measuring behavior that will let you do what you want with a few flags.
Measuring is controlled simply by `layout_width` and `layout_height` attributes, with this meaning:

|`WRAP_CONTENT`|CameraView will choose this dimension, in order to show the whole preview without cropping. The aspect ratio will be respected.|
|`MATCH_PARENT`|CameraView will fill this dimension. Part of the content *might* be cropped.

This means that your visible preview can be of any size, not just the presets.
Whatever you do, the preview will never be distorted - it can only be cropped
if needed.
### Examples
##### Center Inside
By setting both dimensions to `WRAP_CONTENT`, you can emulate a **center inside** behavior.
The view will try to fill the available space, but respecting the stream aspect ratio.

This means that the whole preview is visible, and the image output matches what was visible
during the preview.
##### Center Crop
By setting both dimensions to `MATCH_PARENT` or fixed values, you can emulate a **center crop**
behavior. The camera view will fill the rect. If your dimensions don't match the aspect ratio
of the internal preview surface, the surface will be cropped to fill the view.

This means that part of the preview might be hidden, and the output might contain parts of the scene
that were not visible during the capture, **unless it is taken as a snapshot, since snapshots account for cropping**.
### Advanced feature: Preview Stream Size Selection
> Only do this if you know what you are doing. This is typically not needed - prefer picture/video size selectors,
as they will drive the preview stream size selection and, eventually, the view size. If what you want is just
choose an aspect ratio, do so with [Capture Size](capture-size) selection.
As said, `WRAP_CONTENT` adapts the view boundaries to the preview stream size. The preview stream size must be determined
based on the sizes that the device sensor & hardware actually support. This operation is done automatically
by the engine. The default selector will do the following:
- Constraint 1: match the picture/video output aspect ratio (so you get what you see)
- Constraint 2: match sizes a bit bigger than the View (so there is no upscaling)
- Try to match both, or just one, or fallback to the biggest available size
There are not so many reason why you would replace this, other than control the frame processor size
or, indirectly, the snapshot size. You can, however, hook into the process using `setPreviewStreamSize(SizeSelector)`:

### Engine
CameraView can interact with the camera sensor through the old Android interface typically referred
as `CAMERA1`, and more recently, also through the more modern interface called `CAMERA2`, for API level 21 (Lollipop).
Being more recent, the latter received less testing and feedback. As such, to enable it, you
are required to also set the experimental flag on: `app:cameraExperimental="true"`. On devices older
than Lollipop, the engine will always be `Engine.CAMERA1`.

### Previews
CameraView supports different types of previews, configurable either through the `cameraPreview`
XML attribute or programmatically with the `Preview` control class.
All previews are supported in all conditions, regardless, for example, of the `Engine` that you
choose.
This parameter defaults to the OpenGL `GL_SURFACE` and it is highly recommended that you do not change this
to use all the features available. However, experienced user might prefer a different solution.

The GL surface, as an extra benefit, has a much more efficient way of capturing picture snapshots,
that avoids OOM errors, rotating the image on the fly, reading EXIF, and other horrible things belonging to v1.
These picture snapshots will also work while taking videos.

- let `CameraView` request permissions: we will present a permission request to the user based on
whether they are needed or not with the current configuration.
The automatic request is currently done at the activity level, so the permission request callback
`onRequestPermissionResults()` will be invoked on the parent activity, not the fragment.
The automatic request can be disabled by setting `app:cameraRequestPermissions="false"` in your
XML declaration or by using this method `setRequestPermissions(boolean requestPermissions)` in your code.

Snapshots are captured from the preview stream instead of using a separate capture channel.
They are extremely fast, small in size, and give you a low-quality output that can be easily
uploaded or processed.
The snapshot size is based on the size of the preview stream, which is described in the [Preview Size](preview-size) document.
Although the preview stream size is customizable, note that this is considered an advanced feature,
as the best preview stream size selector already does a good job for the vast majority of use cases.
When taking snapshots, the preview stream size is then changed to match some constraints.
### Matching the preview ratio
Snapshots will automatically be cropped to match the preview aspect ratio. This means that if your
preview is square, you can finally take a square picture or video, regardless of the available sensor sizes.
Take a look at the [Preview Size](preview-size) document to learn about preview sizing.
### Other constraints
You can refine the size further by applying `maxWidth` and a `maxHeight` constraints:

These values apply to both picture and video snapshots. If the snapshot dimensions exceed these values
(both default `Integer.MAX_VALUE`), the snapshot will be scaled down to match the constraints.
This is very useful as it decouples the snapshot size logic from the preview. By using small constraints,
you can have a pleasant, good looking preview stream, while still capturing fast, low-res snapshots
with no issues.
### Video Codec requirements
When taking video snapshots, the video codec that the device provides might require extra constraints,
like
- width / height alignment
- maximum width or height
CameraView will try to read these requirements and apply them, which can result in video snapshots
that are smaller than you would expect, or with a **very slightly** different aspect ratio.

These overlays can be shown on the live camera preview, plus they appear on the media results

As you can see, the overlay system is View-based - each overlay is just a real `View` attached
into the hierarchy. This is a powerful and creative tool. You can, for instance, retrieve the
overlay with `findViewById` and:
- Animate it!
- Change its visibility
- Change its position or appearance
- Do so while video is being recorded
Any changes in the overlay appearance will be recorded in real-time in the picture snapshot
or video snapshot that you are capturing.
As you can see in the example, you can also selectively choose, for each overlay, whether it
will draw on the preview (`layout_drawOnPreview`), on picture snapshots (`layout_drawOnPictureSnapshot`),
on video snapshots (`layout_drawOnVideoSnapshot`).
### Advanced Usage
To add an overlay at runtime, simply use `addView()`, but make sure you pass in an instance of
`OverlayLayout.LayoutParams`:

CameraView v2 introduces various breaking changes that will allow for more flexibility in the future,
removes useless features and makes method names consistent. Upgrading will require addressing these
in your app, plus understanding new concepts.
Until the final v2 release, these things might change, but likely they will not.
### AndroidX
The lib was moved to AndroidX classes. Hopefully this should not have any impact on you.
### Open, not start
The `start()` method has been renamed to `open()`, and the `stop()` method to `close()`. This was
done for consistency with the `onCameraOpened` callback.
### Jpeg Quality
Both `cameraJpegQuality` and `setJpegQuality()` have been removed. They were working only with specific
setups and made no real sense. We will use the default quality provided by the camera engine.
### Crop Output
Both `cameraCropOutput` and `setCropOutput()` have been removed. This was an expensive operation that
worked with pictures only. In v2, if you want your output to be cropped to match the view bounds, you
will use the `*snapshot()` APIs (see below).
### Video Quality
This was an opaque option packaging various parameters. It has been removed.
You are expected to control the video quality by choosing the video size and setting video parameters
with new APIs (see below).
### CameraUtils
- The `BitmapCallback` has been moved into a separate class.
- The `BitmapCallback` result is now `@Nullable`! This will happen if we encounter an `OutOfMemoryError` during decoding.
You should consider passing a maxWidth and maxHeight instead of loading the full image.
### CameraOptions
- Methods returning a `Set` now return a `Collection` instead.
- `isVideoSnapshotSupported()` was removed, as we do not rely on internal video snapshot feature anymore. See below.
- In addition to `getSupportedPictureSizes` and `getSupportedPictureAspectRatio`, we now have equivalent methods for video. See below.
### Session type
The `SessionType` has been renamed to `Mode` which has a clearer meaning.
- `setSessionType()` is now `setMode()`
- `cameraSessionType` is now `cameraMode`
### Sizing
- `getPreviewSize()` was removed.
- `getPictureSize()`: now returns the real output picture size. This means that it accounts for rotation.
It will also return `null` while in `VIDEO` mode: use getVideoSize in that case.
- `getVideoSize()`: added. Returns the real output video size. This means that it accounts for rotation.
It will return `null` while in `PICTURE` mode.
- `getSnapshotSize()`: This is the size of pictures taken with `takePictureSnapshot()` and videos taken
with `takeVideoSnapshot()`. It accounts for rotation and cropping. Read about snapshots below.
As you might have guessed, video size is now configurable, with the addition of `setVideoSize(SizeSelector)` method.
It works exactly like the picture one, so please refer to the size selector documentation. Defaults to `SizeSelectors.biggest()`.
The engine will use the video size selector when mode is `VIDEO`, and the picture size selector when mode is `PICTURE`.
### Picture and videos
##### Take, not capture
- `capturePicture()` is now `takePicture()`
- `captureSnapshot()` is now `takePictureSnapshot()`
- `startCapturingVideo()` is now `takeVideo()`. Signature changed from long to int
- `isCapturingVideo()` is now `isTakingVideo()`
The new `isTakingPicture()` method was added for symmetry with videos.
##### Snapshots
This is the major improvement over v1. There are now 4 capture APIs, two for pictures and two for videos.
- Standard APIs: `takePicture()` and `takeVideo()`. These take a high quality picture or video, depending
on the `SizeSelector` and parameters that were used. The standard APIs **must** be called in the appropriate `Mode`
(pictures must be taken in `PICTURE` mode, videos must be taken in `VIDEO` mode).
- Snapshot APIs: `takePictureSnapshot()` and `takeVideoSnapshot()`. These take a super fast, reliable
snapshot of the camera preview. The snapshot APIs can be called in any `Mode` (you can snap videos in picture mode).
The good news is that snapshot APIs will **automatically crop the result**, for both video and pictures,
which means that **square videos** or any other ratio are possible.

The video snapshot supports audio and respects the `Audio`, max duration, max size & codec settings,
which makes it a powerful tool. The drawback is that it needs:
- API 18. If called before, it throws
- An OpenGL preview (see below). If not, it throws
##### Video capturing
Some new APIs were introduced, which are respected by both standard videos and snapshot videos:
- `setAudioBitRate()` and `cameraAudioBitRate`: sets the audio bit rate in bit/s
- `setVideoBitRate()` and `cameraVideoBitRate`: sets the video bit rate in bit/s
**Important: takeVideo(), like takeVideoSnapshot(), will not accept a null file as input. Use
new File(context.getFilesDir(), "video.mp4") to use the old default.**
### Camera Preview
The type of preview is now configurable with `cameraPreview` XML attribute and `Preview` control class.
This defaults to the new `GL_SURFACE` and it is highly recommended that you do not change this.

smart enough to
- respect the picture/video aspect ratio
- be a bit bigger than the view so that there is no upscaling
There are not so many reason why you would use this method, other than, for example, control the frame
processor size or, indirectly, the snapshots size. If what you are doing is just assigning an aspect ratio,
for instance, please do so using `setPictureSize()` and `setVideoSize()`.
**Note**: `getPreviewSize()` was removed as it has no useful meaning.
### CameraListener
The listener interface brings two breaking signature changes:
- `onPictureTaken()` now returns a `PictureResult`. Use `result.getJpeg()` to access the jpeg stream.
The result class includes rich information about the picture (or picture snapshot) that was taken,
plus handy utilities (`result.toBitmap()`, `result.toFile()`...)
- `onVideoTaken()` now returns a `VideoResult`. Use `result.getFile()` to access the video file.
The result class includes rich information about the video (or video snapshot) that was taken.
### Experimental mode
The v2 version introduces a `cameraExperimental` XML flag that you can use to enable experimental features.
Might be used in the future to speed up development.

### AutoFocus changes
First, the listener methods `onFocusStart` and `onFocusEnd` are now called `onAutoFocusStart` and `onAutoFocusEnd`.
Secondly, and most importantly, the gesture actions `focus` and `focusWithMarker` have been removed
and replaced by `autoFocus`, which shows no marker. A new API, called `setAutoFocusMarker()`, has been
added and can be used, if needed, to add back the old marker.

If device has no `BACK` cameras, defaults to `FRONT`.
- Removed `ExtraProperties` as it was useless.
